On The Road- Jack Kerouac

I'm reading this right now:

And, let me tell you-- it's been PHENOMENAL thus far!  I've never read anything written like this.  I was nervous at first-- afraid that it would be slightly off putting to read something in such a format.  There was nothing to be nervous about, let me tell you!  It's like your best friend is sitting across from you; him with a whiskey on the rocks and you with a dry red slowly sipping as he recalls his journey.

It's personal.

I love when you can hear the author's voice when you read.

I hear you Jack Kerouac!  I hear you when you write,
"... because the only people that interest me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones that never yawn or say a commonplace thing.. but burn, burn, burn like roman candles across the night."
And then I read this and I felt it in my bones:
"I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another till I drop. This is the night, what it does to you. I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion."
I thank my lucky stars that I'm able to continually have amazing books at my finger tips.  To attempt to think about a life in which I was unable to read all of these amazing words is incomprehensible.  Luck... it's a funny thing, isn't it?

What are YOU reading right now?
Does it speak to you?
Does it make your mind wander?
Tug at you?

The problem with me is that I can never read just one book. I have three of them next to my bed, on the floor. I will switch back and forth when I read in the morning, in the middle of the afternoon, and at night.

    1. I'm the same way. I'm also re-reading the Harry Potter series .. but, it has found itself on the back burner to this amazing novel.

The most recent time I've read this was in grad school. Great book, and unappreciated by many who still choose to conform.

  4. I'm currently reading A game of Thrones- the first book. It's dense, it's sweeping, it's such a beautifully told story. It really makes me appreciate the show that much more. My goal is to finish the 3rd book before the third season begins.
